Tax is one of the things that everybody loves to hate - but there's a good reason for taxes ...

There are lots of things we all need, like roads and schools and hospitals and a police force - and even an army and a navy and an air force.

And also helping people who are sick or out of a job.

Lots of things that no one person wants to pay for, so it's over to the government.

So we all pay a bit of money to the government so they can do it for all of us.

Mind you, government has to think carefully about how they split the money between all these things. That's what politics is all about.

And that kind of money has to come from somewhere, so that's what Tax is. It's every one of us helping everybody else.
